Session Summary
Exploring the Mysterious Tower
This session started with the party exploring the level below the ruined keep around The Mysterious Tower. The party spends two days in the lower level with their activities focusing on killing an otyugh, a family of owlbears, and discovering an old temple to a forgotten god of humility. Inside the temple, the party battles animated coffins, skeletons, and a wight.
Daeron fails to sneak up on a sleeping owlbear:
The coffins animate and attack the party:
The party gets scared shitless by a CR3 wight:
On the second day of exploring the ruins, Rymlli, Daeron, and Lars began to have some wisps of shadow float across their skin. This condition persisted until the party was nearly back to Dormantown.
Back to Dormantown
Additionally, on the way back to Dormantown, the party came across a corpse. On the body, they found a sealed letter addressed to a Madame Losa in Shroudbase.
Fighting through a horrible snowstorm, the party arrived back in Dormantown on 2 February 1332. The party reported into the mayor what they had done while on patrol and that they had observed no orcish activity.
The party tries to find Perc Graysky to tell him about the patrol, but they learn that he has not been seen in Dormantown since after the memorial. A visit to Rosa De'Elemon ends with the party taking possession of the Forshantir (in Rymlli's possession).
To Shroudbase
After some discussion, the player characters decided to make their way towards Elvareen, in search of those that may know more about the Forshantir, the Seven Pendants of Dira, and other items. A sidetrip to Shroudbase was required to deliver the Undelivered Letter.
On the way, the party came across a recently burned-down inn and decided to follow the tracks that led away from the destruction. After a couple days travel, the tracks lead the party to an obvious bandit fort, but decide against attacking (taking note of its location for later).
On 8 February 1332, the player characters arrive in the mining village of Shroudbase, where Lars attempts to set up a meeting with Madame Losa. He is told that she is a very special lady and that meetings with her can take awhile to form.
The current talk of the town is about five children that have gone missing: Kimi Eavewalker, Hollin Hebbradan, Jurin Kreed, Savram Vade, and Mikra Jabbs.

Player-submitted Commentary
The bonus XP question this week was:
We've been playing in this campaign for a month now, so it's time for some feedback (yes, you have already said that I suck; you get no XP for stating that again).
What do you like about the campaign so far? What do you dislike? Are you having fun? Is the game what you expected (why or why not?)? What things would you like to see changed (in-game, out-of-game, website, venue, DMing style, adventure type, etc.) and how so? What do you think of the story points (are you interested in it or does it get in the way?)? Feel free to provide any additional feedback that is not asked for above.
Like: being big and smashing hundreds of little orcs, +2 magic items at first level, mysterious whisps of shadow coming off of my body, +10ECL template
Dislike: musty meatball pizza + (7 x hawaiian punch), goodmp having more experience than me but missing half the sessions, map grid not being turned on by default, color puzzles on friday nights (I think a saturday night color puzzle would be solved swiftly)
Having fun? Yes
Game what you expected? No, I thought there were going to be lots of people but we seem to have settled down to a party size of 5 (biscuit, wardtd, ohlrj, scottbp, ferrispc). Map Tool is amazing. I never thought D&D combat could be that fast paced or exciting. I really enjoy the ease of being able to set up my macros before hand and then never touching dice all evening.
Any Changes? this is the dm's show. i'm just along for the ride.
Story Points? Personally I think the PCs are bearing a very heavy burden. --Hi, you are first level characters but go save this town from the orcish hordes and protect this epic relic from epic baddies and oh yeah the very fate of the d&d pantheon is hanging in the balance, btw you are still a good month or two away from casting cure moderate wounds. I dislike the feeling that we are sort of boxed in by the whole Dormantown thing. What good is having an entire world to explore if we are chained to some piece of shit town that can't even protect itself? The next time we are tpk'ed I suggest making a party of halfling nomads and we'll just walk the earth and shit. just walk the earth.
Additional feedback not asked for above
A section of the wiki (or separate wiki) that the players could edit would be neato keen.
Lars:
Like: Most of the same stuff as Pete except for the template since I don't have one. Also the fact that we can pretty much do whatever we want. The only thing really boxing us in is us. Also this week when we prudently walked away from the bandit fortress.
Dislike: Missing a session because UCSD's network sucked! Also not getting my plot hooks in on time and being left with a 28 point buy (neither of these the fault of anyone but me, obviously).
Having fun? Tons!
Game what you expected? I wasn't quite sure what to expect. So far it has not disappointed.
Any changes? Not a one! You've left it all up to us, so I'm not sure what change you could make beyond railroading.
Story points? If they got in the way, it would be our fault. After the opening we've been left up to our own devices.
Additional feedback? I really think it is on us to set the pace. If we think things are going too fast or getting to hard, we can always grind on kobolds or cut our fingers off.
Like: Fat lutes, feeling like I can actually beat up level inappropriate monsters, flaming Beck on the forums.
Dislike: Monsters with level drain! I am fine with losing to three or four CR 3-4 monsters, but I don't like the chance of arbitrarily dying outright to one CR3 monster, espcially if my awesome gear is lost once I die. Also, Pete should not get super powers.
Am I having fun? Very much so.
Is the game what I expected? First time playing D&D; better than anticipated.
Changes: More fat lutes (+2 Adamantine Full Plate? +5 Keen Flaming Burst Dwarven Waraxe? These are just examples of fat lutes), Neil Falda is not playing, everything that currently requires a Reflex or Will save should instead require a Fort save.
Story points? Can't currently follow many of the story points, but that is to be expected. Plenty of low level quests to grind out. Good fun. We have not yet been ambushed by Drow or Duergar because of my recently added plot hooks!
Additional feedback not asked for above: Beck does not actually suck, this game is great, I am just trying to add to the adversarial relationship between players and DM.
Like: I really enjoy the open ended feeling of this game, and I'm having fun interacting with the dormantown area. Already I've become attached to the locations, and as such I am wary to travel to far away. I also like playing Smashdor, and getting to stab things with this amazing sword.
Dislike: Slow play. As Tim was quick to point out, I'm often racing ahead and because of that I end up into a trap every so often. Thinking things through is well and good, but if we're taking 15 minutes to make every decision, the energy of the game will drain. Case-in-point: Color Puzzle.
Having fun? Yes, best D&D campaign I've played, edging out Kevin Smith's game I played with me, Ryan and Frank.
Game what you expected? Not really, as this is so far different than any other D&D game I've ever played in.
Any Changes? Maybe a bit more obvious hooks. We sorta screwed around for a few hours trying to figure out what to do. Alot of us were afraid of stumbling into a place that was over our heads, so we didn't want to go out blind. While I appreciate you don't want to lead us by the nose, maybe having some of the locals contain information pertaining to a quest would be a good idea. Perhaps you could even make this an effect of the Gather Information Check.
Story Points? I really like the story so far. It's a really great story. My only concern is the fear of the Blackgaurd overriding our sense of adventure. I don't want it to become one of those things were we have to constantly live in fear of what's going on with the BBEG.

This is a great game, and I may be interested once we get to a certain point of running it with some folks in Dayton. The concept of a Wiki campaign could become a big thing in the D&D community, as I am having a ton of fun with this one.
